The multilayer self-supporting curved roof solution using the INCO 70.4 profile, among others, has been the solution used as the roof enclosure for 4 new passenger stations of the Guayaquil Air Transport in Ecuador.

The Government of Guayaquil (Ecuador) has invested 134 million dollars in the construction of 4 new airborne transport lines in the city. The promoter, Consorcio Poma y Sofratesa, has executed this project with a route of more than 4 km in length, uniting the center of Guayaquil with the neighboring canton of Durán, crossing the Guayas River.

These cabins, inaugurated at the end of 2020, plan to displace 40,000 people a day linking the city of Guayaquil with Durán and other points of interest. The new stations that have been built have been: Parque Centenario, Durán, Cuatro Mosqueteros and Julián Coronel.

The roofs of these four seasons have been designed with a multilayer self-supporting curved roof system. The INCO 70.4 self-supporting curved profile has been arranged as a support profile for the roof, being supplied in various thicknesses depending on the distance between the supports. This self-supporting solution, with the INCO 155.3 Curved profile, can be installed at a free span of up to 22 meters without the need for intermediate supports.

In addition, to improve acoustic insulation inside buildings, a double-density rigid rock wool panel has been used to guarantee insulation against external noise caused in the event of heavy rain or hail. The metallic covering profiles of the multilayer solution have been the INCO 30.5 profile and the INCO 70.4 profile, 0.70 mm thick, in a highly durable galvanized and pre-lacquered finish, specially designed for HDX-55 type maritime environments.

The INCO 44.6 Curved Wavy profile has been supplied for the enclosures of the access stairs. This profile, thanks to its exclusive and symmetrical design, adapts to concave and convex curvatures, providing a sinusoidal finish, as well as good mechanical resistance due to its wave height of 44 mm.

The INCO 44.4 profile has been used as support and cladding for the multilayer industrial roof solution for the warehouse adjacent to the Durán passenger station. This construction destined for the maintenance and storage of cabins and other elements of the tracks.

Roof typology

(1) Indicate the length of the span of the arch, which is the greatest horizontal distance between the supports of the curved roofing.

(2) Plan-view dimension representing the full length of the curved roof measured perpendicular to the arch span.

(3) Specify the obstructed area under the canopy, in square meters, as a proportion of the total area of the front or side (transverse or longitudinal) façade, in order to calculate the obstruction factor. If it is a closed construction or there is no obstruction area, indicate 0 m².
