Marrakech unveils a modern bus station in El Azzouzia, featuring a self-supporting curved roof system over the main hall.

In 2022, Marrakech took a major step toward modernizing intercity transportation with the construction of a new bus station in the El Azzouzia district. Designed to replace the old Bab Doukkala station, this strategic project enhances connectivity to key routes toward Safi, Essaouira, and Agadir.

With an investment of 60 million dirhams, the station includes 70 bus bays, 45 ticket windows, a main hall covering 1,800 m², a dining area, a hotel, and extensive parking facilities.

Located in the western part of the city, it connects directly to major exit routes and promises to transform the public transportation experience in Marrakech.

The main roof is built using a simple self-supporting curved roofing system with the INCO 70.4 Curvado profile. The structure features curved trusses with variable radii at the ends, spanning up to 5.50 meters.

Roof typology

(1) Indicate the length of the span of the arch, which is the greatest horizontal distance between the supports of the curved roofing.

(2) Plan-view dimension representing the full length of the curved roof measured perpendicular to the arch span.

(3) Specify the obstructed area under the canopy, in square meters, as a proportion of the total area of the front or side (transverse or longitudinal) façade, in order to calculate the obstruction factor. If it is a closed construction or there is no obstruction area, indicate 0 m².
