Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofía) is undergoing an ambitious modernization and expansion process led by Aena, with the goal of adapting its infrastructure to the growing tourist flow and enhancing the passenger experience.

Aena has announced a comprehensive transformation plan for the terminal area of Tenerife South Airport, framed within DORA III, with an initial investment estimated at over 300 million euros. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, during the inauguration of the largest expansion to date at the airport in May 2022.

The project envisions the full integration of the terminal facilities, both architecturally and in terms of their relationship with the surrounding environment. While the final design is still under development (2022–2027), planned actions include the reorganization of access routes and parking areas, renewal of the urban and landscaped environment, modernization of the baggage claim area, expansion of check-in and boarding spaces, and the addition of new commercial services to enhance the passenger experience.

Incoperfil has supplied the INCO 100.3 profile for the new roofing structures over the terminal mezzanines and duty-free zones. The profile is installed directly onto the main structural framework with spans of 4.50 meters, eliminating the need for secondary purlins.

Roof typology

(1) Indicate the length of the span of the arch, which is the greatest horizontal distance between the supports of the curved roofing.

(2) Plan-view dimension representing the full length of the curved roof measured perpendicular to the arch span.

(3) Specify the obstructed area under the canopy, in square meters, as a proportion of the total area of the front or side (transverse or longitudinal) façade, in order to calculate the obstruction factor. If it is a closed construction or there is no obstruction area, indicate 0 m².
